Surround yourself with heroes.

No experience necessary — our training is a mix of classroom instruction and field practice.

On any given day, the trained Phlebotomists (also known as Collections Technicians) at American Red Cross are ready to jump into action. From transporting and setting up blood collection equipment at work sites, to drawing blood from donors, our Phlebotomists work all aspects of blood drives at schools, offices, and churches. The days are fast-paced but fun as you interact with donors and coworkers while you travel to different locations.

Along with a supportive team environment, you will learn new skills with the possibility for advancement opportunities within the American Red Cross as well as potential future healthcare positions. In fact, some of our trained Phlebotomists use their skills to springboard their career further in the medical field.

Some of our Phlebotomy roles require additional skills, such as a CDL license for our mobile blood drives. But all of our positions require outstanding customer service. American Red Cross trains our Phlebotomists to showcase their people skills with attentiveness, patience, communication, and time management - while maintaining great patient care skills. And most importantly, you will gain a rewarding sense of accomplishment that comes from being a vital part of the allied heath community.

We believe in a diverse and inclusive environment

Serving people in America and around the world requires a diverse group of employees ready to meet the challenge. Cultural sensitivity is key to how we operate with the public, and we want to ensure our employees reflect a rich diversity. Through external relationships and internal initiatives, we seek to achieve diversity in our workforce, partners and suppliers.

We are also proud to offer several resource groups for our employees. African-American, LGBT, and Latino Team Member Resource Groups provide mentoring and give voice to concerns and opinions of these valuable team members.

Who we are is more than just blood products

As one of the nation’s oldest and most respected humanitarian organizations, the American Red Cross has been at the forefront of helping save lives since its founding in 1881. We strive to provide disaster relief in America and abroad. We support our active-duty military, veterans and their families. We collect, process and distribute about 40 percent of the nation’s blood supply. Health and safety education and training are also part of our goal.

We are a strong organization of passionate supporters, volunteers and employees dedicated to helping others. Every year, we collect over 5 million units of blood; respond to 66,000 disasters; provide more than 367,000 services to active-duty military, veterans and their families; and more.
